Classic Album Covers Mashed Up With Google Street View

Album covers set in cities around the world by the Beatles, Beastie Boys, PJ Harvey, and other famed rock acts get mashed up with Google Street View images.

In the Guardian's latest installment of its “Cities" photo-mashup series, the all-seeing eye of Google Street View takes a tour around the locations of classic album covers shot in city streets. From The Beatles’ famed strut across Abbey Road to black-clad rock goddess PJ Harvey’s trip to Times Square, the album covers are superimposed with the urban locations today, reminding us of rockstars’ power to turn an ordinary city block into hallowed ground.

Bobbi Brown Is Yahoo’s New Beauty Editor-in-Chief

In a continuation of all-star hires like Katie Couric, Yahoo announced this morning that Bobbi Brown would be its new beauty editor-in-chief. As Brown explained on her blog:

I’ve always said that if I wasn’t a makeup artist, I would love to be a teacher or an editor. Now, in an exciting and unexpected new role, I’ll get to do both.

In a press release, Yahoo explained that Brown had been hired to lead the “editorial direction, original content and the expansion and re-imagination of Yahoo Beauty.” Maybe she’ll show us first how to make purple whimsy wearable?

During Twitter’s first earnings call as a public company in early February CEO Dick Costolo emphasized that his goal is “to reach every person on the planet.”

"In 2014," he added, "we’re focused on building a Twitter that is truly accessible and valuable to everyone." What better way to do that than by borrowing some of the look and feel from the social network that’s come closest to that goal: Facebook

Twitter unveiled a new design for profile pages on Tuesday with more prominent lead images and the option to choose a top tweet to display. As many, many users quickly pointed out, the design makes Twitter look that much more similar to Facebook. That might not be such a bad thing. Read more…
